  • ¾ cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • cup whole milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz Cool Whip, thawed

Cake Layer

  • 1 piece pre-baked angel food cake, torn into pieces

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gradually mix in the sifted powdered sugar until the mixture is fluffy and well combined.
  • Pour in the whole milk and vanilla extract. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
  • Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into the cream cheese mixture without deflating the fluffy texture.

Assembly

  • In a trifle dish, layer half of the torn angel food cake pieces.
  • Follow with half of the cream mixture and top with half of the cherry pie filling.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.

Chilling

  • Cover the dish and place it in the refrigerator. Chill for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

Make this dessert ahead of time for the best flavor. You can use low-fat cream cheese but the texture may be different. This dessert can also be frozen for up to a month; thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
