Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 2 boxes cake mix (any flavor you like)
  • 2 jars frosting (pick your favorite flavors)
  • Eggs (as specified on the cake mix box)
  • Oil (as specified on the cake mix box)
  • Water (as specified on the cake mix box)

For Pan Greasing

  • Butter, Pam spray, coconut oil, or flour For greasing pans

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to the temperature stated on the cake mix box.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients specified for the cake. Mix until the batter is smooth and well blended.
  • Grease the baking pans thoroughly with butter, Pam spray, coconut oil, or sprinkle flour over the pan to prevent sticking.
  • Pour the batter evenly into both pans.

Baking

  • Bake for the time specified on the cake mix box.
  • To check for doneness, insert a toothpick or knife into the center of the cakes. If it comes out clean, you’re good to go!
  • Allow the cakes to cool in their pans for a few minutes, then carefully remove them.

Frosting and Decorating

  • Place a dollop of frosting on your serving platter to secure the first cake layer.
  • If needed, level the top of the first layer with a knife for smooth stacking, then spread frosting on top of it.
  • Carefully place the second layer on top and frost it generously.
  • To create a clean finish, apply a dirty icing coat to seal in any crumbs.
  • Decorate the cake as desired with sprinkles, fruit, or other toppings.
