Ingredients

For the Cheese Mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Assembly

  • 1 package pretzel sticks

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, chopped cranberries, green onions, chopped pecans, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well until everything is combined and smooth.
  • Use your hands to shape the mixture into 1-inch balls. Place the balls onto a sheet of parchment paper, leaving some space between each one.
  • Refrigerate the cheese balls for about 30 minutes to help them firm up.
  • Once firm, roll each cheese ball in the finely chopped pecans until they are evenly coated.
  • Just before serving, insert a pretzel stick into the center of each ball for easy eating.

Notes

You can prepare the cheese ball mixture a day in advance and shape them into balls just before serving. These pops pair well with drinks like sparkling cider or chilled white wine. Freezing uncoated cheese balls is possible for up to a month.
