  • 2 cups bread crumbs Use fresh or dried bread crumbs.
  • 1 cup cooked cranberries Add sweetness and acidity.
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped Adds flavor and moisture.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For added flavor.
  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder.
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage Herb for seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme Herb for seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon salt To enhance flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper For seasoning.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter Optional, for moisture.
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth Optional, for moisture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, bread crumbs, cranberries, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Stir gently until everything is evenly blended.
  • If the mixture feels dry, pour in the melted butter or chicken broth to moisten. If it's too wet, add a little more bread crumbs.
  • Form the mixture into balls about the size of a golf ball and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.

Cooking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  • For extra color, switch your oven to broil for an additional 2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Serve warm, optionally with turkey gravy or cranberry sauce.

Notes

You can prepare the mixture a day in advance and store it in the fridge. Leftovers keep well in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
