Ingredients

For the jalapeño filling

  • 12 pieces medium-sized jalapeños halved and seeded
  • 8 oz ground sausage cooked until browned
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese shredded

For preparation

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for greasing
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking dish or sheet by lightly greasing it with olive oil.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground sausage and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Once cooked, drain any excess grease and let it cool slightly.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, and shredded Parmesan. Stir all ingredients together until well blended and creamy.

Stuffing and Baking

  • Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds for less heat. Place the jalapeño halves on your prepared baking dish and fill each half generously with the sausage and cheese mixture, making sure they’re well-packed.
  • Put the stuffed jalapeños in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and bubbly.

Serving

  • Once baked, serve the jalapeño bites hot, paired with your favorite dipping sauce for an extra kick.

Notes

For a milder bite, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños. You can also prepare the filling in advance. These bites can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen after stuffing.
