Ingredients

For the filling

  • 2 cups diced apples Use a mix of sweet and tart apples like Granny Smith and Fuji.
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade caramel sauce can be used.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Feel free to add a pinch of nutmeg or ginger for extra warmth.

For the pie bites

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts Frozen pie crusts can be used if thawed as per package instructions.
  • 1 each egg Beaten for the egg wash.
  • to taste Sugar for sprinkling Optional for extra sweetness on top.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a bowl, combine the diced apples with caramel sauce, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir well to ensure the apples are coated.
  • Roll out the refrigerated pie crusts on a floured surface and cut them into circles using a biscuit cutter or a glass.
  • Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the centre of each circle, taking care not to overfill.
  • Fold the pie crust over the filling and seal the edges by crimping them with a fork.
  • Brush the tops with a beaten egg to give them a lovely golden colour when baked. If you like, sprinkle a little sugar on top for an extra sweet touch.
  • Place the bites on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the delightful flavours!

Notes

Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Consider drizzling caramel sauce for an indulgent touch.
