Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 500 g plums or damsons, washed, pitted, and chopped Use ripe plums for the best flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds Helps to thicken the mixture naturally.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adjust based on your preference.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash, pit, and chop the plums into small pieces.
  • In a medium pot, combine the chopped plums, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the plums soften and start breaking down.
  • Using a blender or immersion blender, puree the plum mixture to your desired consistency—smooth or chunky.
  • Stir in the chia seeds and mix well. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the chia seeds to swell and the spread to thicken.
  • If desired, return it to low heat and cook for an additional few minutes, stirring constantly, for a thicker spread.
  • Once the desired consistency is reached, transfer the spread to a clean jar and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes

Store the spread in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to one week. If the spread is too thick after chilling, stir in a bit of water to thin it out.
