Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry, thawed (about 250g total) Keep the puff pastry cold for best results.
  • 1/2 cup Nutella (about 150g) Can be substituted with almond butter or chocolate spread.
  • 1 large Egg For egg wash.
  • to taste Sparkling Sugar or Red/Green Sanding Sugar Optional, for decoration.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350ºF (175ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Flour a clean work surface and unroll the first sheet of puff pastry. Roll it out to double its size. Repeat with the second sheet.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the Nutella for 20-30 seconds until spreadable.
  • Spread the melted Nutella evenly over the first sheet of puff pastry, leaving edges clear.
  • Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top of the Nutella-covered sheet and press down gently to seal.
  • Use a Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter to cut out tree shapes from the layered pastry and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush over each Christmas tree.
  • If desired, sprinkle with sparkling sugar or sanding sugar.

Baking

  • Bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, dust with powdered sugar for a wintry look, and pair with hot cocoa for a delightful holiday treat. Can be prepared ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to two days.
