Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces ripe pears, peeled, cored, and diced Ripe pears provide natural sweetness and moisture; apples can be used as a substitute.
  • 120 g rolled oats Rolled oats work best for texture; avoid instant oats.
  • 300 ml milk (dairy or plant-based) Use any milk preferred, like almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 2 large eggs Can be swapped with flaxseed meal mixed with water for a vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  • Peel, core, and dice the pears into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the oats, milk, eggs, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  • Spread the diced pears evenly in the bottom of a small baking dish.
  • Pour the oat mixture over the pear layer, ensuring it covers the fruit completely.
  • Bake for about 30–35 minutes, until the top is golden and the casserole is set in the center.
  • Let it cool slightly, then serve warm.

Notes

To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean. Overbaking can cause the casserole to become dry. Let it cool slightly before serving for a better texture.
