Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.2 kg ripe pears Look for ripe, sweet varieties like Bartlett or Anjou for the best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adds warmth and pairs beautifully with the fruity taste.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Balances the sweetness and enhances the flavor of the pears.
  • 1 pinch vanilla extract Optional for additional flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Peel, core, and cut the pears into small pieces.

Cooking

  • In a pot, combine the cut pears with lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for 20–25 minutes until soft and tender.
  • Using a blender or immersion blender, blend the cooked pears until smooth.
  • Stir in cinnamon and optional vanilla extract, mixing well.
  • Continue to simmer the mixture uncovered over low heat for another 20–30 minutes, stirring regularly until it thickens and reaches a creamy consistency.
  • Fill hot pear butter into clean jars, seal tightly, and allow to cool before refrigerating.

Notes

Make sure your pears are ripe for the best sweetness and easier blending. For a thicker pear butter, simmer the mixture long enough and stir frequently to prevent sticking. If you prefer a chunkier texture, blend less and leave some small pear pieces intact.
