Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup Old-fashioned rolled oats Not quick or steel-cut for the best creamy texture.
  • 0.5 cup Milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, etc.) Use what you like to drink.
  • 2-3 tablespoons Yogurt (optional) Greek yogurt makes it extra thick.
  • 1 teaspoon Chia seeds (optional) They absorb liquid and make the oats pudding-like.
  • 1-2 teaspoons Sweetener (honey, maple syrup, etc.) Adjust to taste.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances flavor.

Flavor Boosters

  • 0.5 teaspoon Cinnamon Classic flavor enhancer.
  • 1 splash Vanilla extract For added flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Nut butter (optional) Peanut or almond butter adds richness.

Mix-ins and Toppings

  • Berries, chopped apple, banana, nuts, seeds, coconut, cocoa powder, chocolate chips Add for extra flavor and texture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Add 1/2 cup rolled oats and a pinch of salt into a jar.
  • Pour in 1/2 cup milk for thick oats or up to 2/3 cup for creamier oats.
  • Stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons of yogurt if desired.
  • Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of sweetener, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, and a shake of cinnamon. Stir well.
  • Layer any fruits or mix-ins; you can add them now or in the morning.

Chilling

  • Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight.

Serving

  • In the morning, stir well and adjust consistency with more milk or yogurt if needed.
  • Top with crunchy ingredients like chopped nuts or granola right before serving.

Notes

Prep multiple jars at once to keep on hand for 3 to 4 days. Use frozen berries for longevity, and enjoy warm if preferred by microwaving gently.
