Ingredients

For the cookie dough

  • 125 g unsalted butter, softened Use unsalted for better control of saltiness
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 125 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 175 g rolled oats For best texture, use rolled oats
  • 150 g chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the rolled oats and chocolate chips.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve with cold milk or hot tea. For an extra twist, add a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking.
