  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 tsp salt

Optional toppings

  • 1 boiled egg boiled egg Optional, can be skipped or replaced with a vegan substitute.
  • 2 tbsp yogurt or sour cream Can be substituted with a dairy-free option.
  • Parsley Fresh herbs can enhance flavor.
  • Salt and black pepper To taste.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine the rolled oats, hot water, salt, and oil. Stir until a dough forms, making sure everything is well mixed.
  • Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes until it's manageable to touch.
  • While waiting for the dough to cool, boil an egg if you plan to use it as a topping.
  • Once the dough has cooled, form it into a flat pita shape and place it on a baking sheet or pan.
  • Top the oat pita with yogurt or sour cream, sprinkle chopped parsley (if using), and add salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Enjoy your healthy oat pita bread warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For a crisper texture, bake the pitas at a higher temperature for the final few minutes. You can experiment with adding spices or herbs to the dough for added flavor. Ensure the dough isn't too hot to handle when forming the pitas, as it can cause them to become misshapen.
