Ingredients

Bread Ingredients

  • 250 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 240 millilitres milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well to ensure all the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Stir in the milk and melted butter until a dough forms. You want it to be manageable, so don’t overmix!
  • Knead the dough briefly on a floured surface until it’s smooth and pliable. Just a minute or two will do the trick.
  • Shape the dough into a round loaf. Aim for a consistent thickness to help it cook evenly.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Make sure it’s nice and hot before adding the dough.
  • Place the dough in the skillet, cover with a lid, and cook for about 15 minutes on each side, looking for a lovely golden brown color and a cooked-through interior.
  • Once done, carefully remove the bread from the skillet and let it cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

This bread is versatile – serve it warm with butter or jam, or toast slices lightly for toppings like avocado or cheese. Experiment by adding herbs or dried fruits for a twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
