Ingredients

Cheese Balls

  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened Base ingredient for creaminess.
  • 4 oz Goat cheese, softened Adds tang and brightness.
  • 1 cup Dried cranberries, chopped Sweet and tart flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Pecan pieces, toasted Adds crunch and nuttiness.
  • 2 tbsp Green onion or chives, chopped For a hint of onion flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Orange zest For citrusy sparkle.
  • 1 tbsp Honey or maple syrup (optional) For a touch of sweetness.
  • 1 pinch Black pepper For balance.
  • 1 pinch Salt Seasoning.

Serving Accompaniments

  • 1 box Crackers or crostini Choose a variety for different textures.
  • 1 cup Fresh extras (grapes, apple slices, pomegranate arils, rosemary) For garnish and serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Mix softened cream cheese and goat cheese in a bowl until smooth.
  • Add chopped dried cranberries, green onion, orange zest, honey (if using), black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

Shaping

  • Spread chopped pecans on a plate. Scoop a teaspoon of cheese mixture and roll it into a small ball.
  • Roll the ball in chopped pecans to coat, and repeat with the remaining mixture.

Chill and Serve

  • Chill cheese balls for 15 to 20 minutes to firm up.
  • Assemble the board by placing crackers on one side, fresh fruits on another, and nestle cheese balls in the center.
  • Add a small bowl of extra cranberries if desired.

Notes

Make cheese balls up to 2 days in advance and coat with nuts on the day of serving. Keep the assembled board covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
