Ingredients

For the salmon

  • 4 pieces center cut salmon filets Or a single piece of salmon weighing 800 grams.
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt Divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary Or 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary.

For the maple pecan glaze

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons stone ground or Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

For garnish

  • Fresh rosemary For garnish.
  • Sliced tangerines For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • Gently wash the salmon filets and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Season the salmon evenly with paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper. Drizzle with olive oil, ensuring all filets are nicely coated.
  • Place the seasoned salmon in an oven-safe baking dish, skin-side down.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-16 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Maple Pecan Sauce

  • While the salmon is baking, prepare the maple pecan sauce. In a skillet over medium heat, toast the chopped pecans until they are fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the maple syrup, orange juice, kosher salt, and Dijon mustard to the pecans. Simmer the mixture for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.

Serving

  • Once the salmon is finished baking, remove it from the oven and spoon the warm maple-pecan glaze generously over the top.
  • Garnish with fresh rosemary and sliced tangerines for an extra pop of flavor and color.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy this flavorful dish!

Notes

Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your salmon filets. Keep an eye on them after 15 minutes to avoid overcooking. For a nut-free option, you can skip the pecans. Fresh herbs can be swapped for different flavors.
