Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 10 g salt
  • 5 g sugar
  • 10 g dried yeast Can substitute with instant yeast
  • 360 ml warm water Ensure water is warm, not hot

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Mix these dry ingredients well to ensure even distribution.
  • Gradually add the warm water to the dry mixture, stirring until it forms a sticky, wet dough.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave it at room temperature for 12–18 hours.

Baking

  • Once the dough has risen and has a bubbly appearance, preheat your oven to 232°C (450°F) and place a Dutch oven (with the lid on) inside to heat.
  • Lightly flour a clean surface and turn out the risen dough, carefully shaping it into a ball.
  • Using oven gloves, remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven, place the dough inside, cover it with the lid, and put it back in the oven.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For added flavor, mix in herbs or spices to your dough. Store in a paper bag at room temperature for up to three days or freeze for longer storage. Substitute half of the white flour with whole wheat for a nuttier taste.
