Ingredients

For the Bites

  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed if frozen
  • 8 ounces brie cheese Cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce Can be homemade or store-bought
  • 1 orange zest and juice For added flavor
  • 1 large egg For egg wash
  • as needed tablespoons flour For dusting the surface

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Lightly flour your surface and roll out the puff pastry until it's about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Cut the pastry into squares that will fit into your mini muffin pan.
  • Carefully place the pastry squares into each cup of the muffin tin.
  • Cut the brie cheese into small pieces and place one piece in each pastry cup.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cranberry sauce with the zest and juice of the orange.
  • Spoon the cranberry-orange mixture over the brie in each cup.
  • Beat the egg and use it to brush the edges of the pastry for a golden finish.

Baking

  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the brie is melted and bubbly.
  • Allow the bites to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain flaky texture. Feel free to experiment with toppings such as fig jam or fresh herbs.
