  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 4 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 3-4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup mashed banana (from 2 ripe bananas)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (or more, to taste)
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based) Use any plant-based alternative for dairy-free option.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats and chia seeds.
  • Add the brown sugar, mashed bananas, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract to the mixture.
  • Pour in the milk and stir until everything is well combined.
  • Cover the bowl with a lid or cling film, and place it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight.
  • When you’re ready to enjoy your oats, give them a good stir and top with your favourite toppings such as fresh fruits, nuts, or a drizzle of honey.

Notes

For added nutrition, mix in some flaxseeds or swap the banana for different fruits like apples or pears. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
