Ingredients

For the pudding

  • 2 cups cold whole milk Use cold milk for quicker setting
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix For a thicker pudding, ensure it's chilled

For the whipped cream

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream Whip until soft peaks form
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar To sweeten the whipped cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavor enhancement
  • 1 pinch salt Balances sweetness

For assembly

  • 3 ripe bananas sliced Slice just before assembling
  • 2 to 3 cups vanilla wafers Layer for structure and texture
  • Optional: a little lemon juice To toss with bananas to slow browning

Instructions

Preparation

  • Whisk the pudding mix and cold milk until thick, about 2 minutes. Chill it for 10 minutes so it sets fully.
  • Whip the cream with powdered sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt to soft peaks. Fold half of this whipped cream into the pudding to make it extra light. Save the rest for topping.

Assembly

  • Slice bananas just before building to keep them fresh. If you like, toss slices with a touch of lemon juice.
  • Layer in clear glasses: wafers, pudding, bananas, then repeat. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and a few crushed wafers on top.
  • Chill for 30 to 60 minutes so the wafers soften slightly and flavors settle. Serve cold.

Notes

For neat layers, use a piping bag or zip-top bag snipped at the corner to pipe pudding neatly. Chill your glasses before layering for defined layers.
